We very quickly settled on Rutland, which we have made our home and very much feels like home (in fact, Ben grew up just a few miles away in Stamford), as the place we wanted to get married. A big factor in our decision was the opportunity to use the school Chapel for the ceremony: it is, physically as well as emotionally, at the heart of the school community and means a lot to all Uppinghamians, pupils and staff. Whilst it might seem odd to get married in your place of work, the all-consuming nature of a boarding school is the context in which we met and is an ethos to which we are committed.
Apart from therefore being the right place for us (and hopefully it might even look like it does in these wintry photos!), we will also have the pleasure of the school Chaplain, James Saunders. He is, without doubt, the best of the best. Fingers crossed he keeps the jokes clean!
James has very kindly agreed that we can serve some champagne at the back of the Chapel immediately after the ceremony so, whether you are staying for the rest of the day too or will be there just for the ceremony, please do join us for a celebratory glass (and one or two photos: outside, weather-permitting!).
